Assigning device roles to a partner

Once you’ve claimed a device and are affiliated with another Olarm Partner, you can assign that partner to specific roles on the device — such as monitoring, installation, or billing (device subscription). This allows you to collaborate seamlessly while keeping responsibilities clear.

What device roles can be assigned

There are three key roles that can be assigned:

  • Monitor – The partner responsible for receiving and managing alarm signals

  • Installer – The partner responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the device

  • Billing/Device Subscription – The partner who will be billed by Olarm for the online device

Each role for a device can only be filled by:

  • You (the profile claiming a role), or

  • An affiliated partner

AlertA South African installer cannot be assigned the Billing role to take on device subscriptions.


Assigning a partner role to device

Steps to assign a partner role to a device:

  1. Go to the Devices Page and open the claimed device’s detail view.

  2. Scroll down to the Device Roles section.

  3. Next to each role (Monitor, Installer, Device Subscription), click Manage.

  4. Select the affiliated partner you want to assign the role to.

  5. Click Send Request.

The selected partner will receive:

  • An email notification

  • A request prompt inside their Command Centre

They must accept the role assignment for it to activate. Until accepted, they will not receive signals or have access to the device.

Important Notes:
  • Only affiliated partners can be assigned roles.

  • Once assigned, roles cannot be unassigned without assistance from Olarm Support.

  • Each device must have a Device Subscription role assigned — otherwise, the app user will be billed, and signals will be disabled until payment is made.
