Start Here: How to setup Olarm MAX video

Overview

You can connect your DVR,XVR, NVR or most IP camera supporting RTSP protocol to the Olarm MAX video solution.
RTSP is a real-time streaming protocol used for remote stream playback from a video surveillance device.

How to setup your camera system for Olarm MAX video

Although the configuration process is similar for many routers, the names of the parameters and the settings may differ for different manufacturers.

System configuration check has two steps:
  1. Login to the camera via your browser and assigned camera IP address
  2. Configure the default settings for Olarm MAX video
  3. Configure the camera brand specific settings for Olarm MAX video
Before you start, please ensure your camera system is on the same network as your Olarm MAX

Step 1 Login to the camera via your browser and assigned camera IP address

Dahua configuration can normally be found at Settings -> Camera - Encode
Hikvision configuration can normally be found at Configuration -> Video/Audio

Step 2: Configure the default settings for Olarm MAX video

The Olarm MAX Video solution requires the following camera settings across all brands.
Setup requirements across all camera setups
  1. H.264 compression format
  2. 512kbps Max Bitrate support
    1. Recommended 256kbps
  3. Configurable mainstream or substream functionality
    1. If using mainstream, lower the resolution & bitrate if substream is not available

Step 3: Configure the camera brand settings

This step includes brand specific camera settings required for linking a camera in the Olarm App
Dahua
  1. IP address displayed under Network page in the TCP/IP section
  2. Port number displayed under Network page in the RTSP Port row (default 554)
  3. Live Streaming URL - /Streaming/channels/<channel number><stream type number>
  4. Construct XYY = X channel, YY sub or main stream
  5. Playback URL - /streaming/tracks/XYY
  6. Construct XYY = X channel, YY sub or main stream
  7. Time format - <YYYY_MM_DD_HH_MM_SS>
  8. Admin & Password - Credentials used to login to camera configuration and streaming tool

Hikvision
  1. Configuration > Network > Basic Settings > IPv4 Address
  2. Configuration > Network > Basic Settings > Port > RTSP Port (default 554)
  3. Live Streaming URL - /cam/realmonitor?channel=2&subtype1
  4. Cameral channel number = 1-48
  5. Subtype - Mainstream = 0 or Substream = 1
  6. Playback URL - /cam/playback?channel=2&subtype=1
  7. Cameral channel number = 1-48
  8. Subtype - Mainstream = 0 & Substream = 1
  9. Time Format - <YYYYMMDD>T<HHMMSS>
  10. Admin & Password - Credentials used to login to camera configuration and streaming tool
