How to setup an Olarm MAX with a 4-channel Sherlo Transmitter & Receiver to control a Gate/Garage Motor

This guide is only for standalone Olarm MAX devices that are not connected to an alarm system or electric fence energizer.

Requirements

1 x Olarm MAX communicator

1 x Sherlotronics Transmitter (TX)

1 x Sherlotronics Receiver (RX)

1 x Power Source for the Olarm MAX & Transmitter

1 x Gate or garage motor

Step 1: Connect the Sherlo Transmitter (TX) and the Olarm MAX

Wire a cable to the Olarm MAX as follows:

  • Black to GND

  • Yellow to IO PORT 1

Wire the other end of the cable to the Sherlo Transmitter as follows:

  • Black to NEG

  • Yellow to CH1

Step 2: Connect the Power Source

You will need to provide the Olarm MAX and Sherlo Transmitter (TX) with power using your chosen power source. Both devices require a minimum of power input of 12V. Once you have wired the devices wired up, power up the both devices.

The Olarm MAX will continue flashing green and may turn red which is not an issue, continue as per the next steps. The Olarm MAX will turn blue when you put it into standalone mode.

Step 3: Connect the Sherlo Receiver (RX) and the Gate/Garage Motor

Wire a cable to the Sherlo Receiver as follows:

  • Red to +12V/+24V

  • Black to NEG

  • Green to N.O

  • Yellow to COM

Wire the other cable to the Gate/Garage Motor as follows:

  • Red to AUX + (12V Output)

  • Black to NEG - (Ground)

  • Green to TRG/BT/IO1 (Triggering terminal)

  • Yellow to COM/GND (Ground)

Step 4: Put the Olarm MAX into Standalone Mode

Once the device has powered up, add the Olarm MAX to the Olarm APP and put the device into standalone mode by following the steps below.

  • Tap on the Menu icon

  • Select Device Setup

  • Change the Olarm MAX Setup to “NO”

    • You are telling the Olarm MAX that it is not connected to an alarm system or an electric fence

Step 5: Setup the IO Port in the Olarm APP

The IO Port 1 will need to be setup as an output to trigger the Gate/Garage Motor. Follow the steps below to setup IO Port 1 in the Olarm APP.

  • Tap on the Menu icon

  • Select Device Setup

  • Go to Input/Output

  • Click the Arrow & select IO Port 1

  • Enable the toggle to activate the port

  • Give the port a Name (ie. Home Gate)

  • Tap the Settings dropdown

  • Select “Output” for the Port type

  • Select “Pulse” for the Mode

  • Enter “300” for duration & select “milliseconds”

  • Choose the Button Icon, Colour & Text

  • Select what the port is used for and Save

Step 6: Pair the Sherlo Transmitter & Receiver
